Mission Beaches

Mission Beach is a small, active community in San Diego and its beaches are no different! With three ‘main’ beach areas, there is no shortage of great spots to sunbathe, swim, or get out the volleyball net. From the larger Mission Beach to the smaller, more tranquil Mission Bay, the beaches in this area offer a wide variety of activities and are great for families with kids who are looking to spend a day on the sand.

South Mission Beach

South Mission Beach is just below Mission Beach, and is the perfect place for a stroll. There are plenty of amenities, including a big grassy park with picnic tables and even a basketball court and volleyball courts. Because this beach is so wide and sandy, you can toss a football or even play a pick-up game of whiffel ball. This beach is also one that is guarded by a lifeguard every day until dusk so you can feel safe letting your kids play. If you are an avid biker or runner, you can take the Ocean Front Walk from South Mission Beach all the way to Pacific Beach.

Mission Beach

Mission Beach is one of the larger sandy beaches in the area that is a quick walk south of Pacific Beach. Belmont Park draws families with children in with its retro-feeling fun-zone. Its main features are a thrilling wooden roller coaster, a swimming pool, a mini-golf course, and an arcade. Just outside of the fun zone is the Ocean Front Walk, which is great for rollerblading, biking, and strolling along the beach. Because this beach features parking, it is very easy to access, so come see all that is has to offer!
