Your Ultimate Itinerary for a Day at the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open
The upcoming 2017 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines is the golf event of the year! Here’s how to maximize every minute of it with our itinerary.
The Farmers Insurance Open has been held at Torrey Pines every year since 1968. Before you go, you’ll need to buy tickets here at the Farmers Insurance Open website. You’ll also want to familiarize yourself with the many parking options available with different locations and prices and the detailed Spectator Guidelines.
Wednesday’s Preview Day (January 25) features the Zurich Pro-Am where you can play alongside professionals from the top 100 on the FedExCup point list. Thursday (January 26) is Opening Day with the first of four rounds, and the tournament finishes Sunday (January 29) with the final fourth round and the Awards ceremony that night. Find more details on the week’s schedule here.
6:00 am – Get breakfast! Nearby restaurants include Caroline’s Seaside Cafe open at 8 am, and Farmer & The Seahorse open at 7 am weekdays. The Grill at Torrey Pines also opens at 6 am, situated at The Lodge at Torrey Pines hotel right next to the golf course for a closer breakfast.
7:00 am – Gates Open. If you’re an early bird, now is a great time to get yourself situated and set up your chairs or look for autograph opportunities (Tiger Woods if you get lucky!).
9:00 am – The round opens. You can bring pop-up stools and chairs without their carrying bags, but no lawn chairs or stepstools (please see the extensive Spectator Guidelines for more information). Times for each of the holes are on the schedule, and the player list is here.
Grab lunch at the event zones found at multiple locations throughout the event. If your attention wanders during the tournament, you can hit these attractions for food, adult beverages (the Flight Deck presented by Grey Goose at the 16th tee is a must!), live music and DJ performances, merch tents, and great views! Don’t miss the SERVPRO Fan Village where you can try out gear, get special offers from tournament partners, and use interactive displays. The Vantage Point is also worth a visit — killer food and drinks are available, along with opportunities to view professionals at putting practice, an autograph area, and another official merch store.
3:30 pm – Typically, the day’s round lasts until about 3:30 pm. The Post Party hosted by Harrah’s, located in the ULTRA Zone, kicks off after the end of the rounds (Thursday, Friday and Saturday). Enjoy drinks and live music while mingling with other tournament attendees.
During the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open, accessibility shuttles will be available to transport people across the venue. However, walkers and wheelchairs are not allowed on the shuttle. Those using large devices for assistance will need to arrange for a companion to transport the device from the shuttle’s departure location to the arrival point. There are restrictions on the types and sizes of bags, chairs, food, and electronic devices allowed into the event so those needing to bring equipment or supplies should contact the coordinators. Anything brought into the event is subject to inspection. People interested in playing in the Zurich Pro-Am that use accessibility equipment may also need to contact the coordinators for more information.
